Freddie and Jim and myself led Julian...Jules...into the condo and the four of us sat and talked for a bit.  I had to remind myself not to stare at Jules as he spoke, and it was hard to refrain.  I couldn't believe he was here.  I hadn't forgotten about him, nor had I stopped loving him since I discovered Queen...I just hadn't thought about him for a while.  Now, seeing him next to me, in person, all those old feelings flooded back and I loved Freddie all the more for choosing him.
After we'd sat and talked we decided to go out and see the sights.  The air was so much clearer, and the water so much bluer in Hawaii.  We drove around in the limo, taking pictures of everything.  Jules flirted with all three of us, which amused us greatly.  Well it amused Freddie and Jim...with me, it made my heart flutter.
After a quick lunch at the condo, we went to the beach.  As I said, the water was so much bluer in Hawaii and I couldn't get enough of it.  I kept running into the ocean and getting knocked over by the waves.  Freddie and Jules kept having to pull me up.  Jim stayed on the shore, declaring that the water was too beautiful to touch.  Freddie called him a scaredy cat.
We stayed at the beach until well after sunset, playing in the sand and walking along the surf.  Jules hovered around me, complimenting me at every turn, and generally making my heart skip so many beats it was a wonder I didn't collapse of heart failure.  He was such a flirt!
Freddie kept giving me cheeky glances and wiggling his eyebrows up and down as if to say “told ya!” I stuck my tongue out at him.  By the time our beach visit was over, and I had a nice walk with Jules along the now much calmer surf, it was time to go back to the condo.  That night we took turns telling stories around the kitchen table, and after a few dozen games of Scrabble it was time for bed.  It had been a long, fun day.

The next morning I woke with a start, afraid I'd dreamed everything that had happened the night before.   When I saw the condo room I was in, I relaxed, relieved it had all been real.  After a few moments of laying in bed, savoring the beautiful quiet, I got dressed and went downstairs to join everyone.
To my surprise, only Freddie was awake besides myself.  He was sitting at the kitchen table, silently sipping a cup of tea.  He appeared to be lost in thought, as his gaze wandered out the window at the white curtains fluttering in the breeze.
His head turned in my direction as I approached and he gave me a grin.
“Good morning, Mel.” he said, setting his teacup down.
“Hi,” I smiled, going to the table and sitting down next to him.
“How did you sleep, lovie?” he asked me.
“Pretty well, considering you fixed me up with the man of my hormonal teenage dreams, and he actually likes me.” I said, making him laugh so hard he had to clamp a hand over his mouth to keep from waking up the upstairs sleepers.
When he'd gotten himself back under control, he patted my shoulder.
“Now, what did I tell you? I told you I'd find you someone who'd like you!” he said in an excited whisper.
I grinned, letting the memory of what had happened the evening before wash over me.  It really was surreal, and something I'd never expected to least not to me.
“This is pretty great...seriously, I never thought it'd ever happen to me.” I told him.
Freddie gave me a sweet smile, “I'm glad...I like making people's dreams come true.” he told me in a soft voice.
I stood up and gave him a hug around the shoulders where he sat.  He blinked a few times, apparently surprised at my gesture, and patted my arm.
“Freddie, you've made more than one dream of mine come true.” I told him mid squeeze.
“And what were those dreams, dear?” he asked.
I sat back down, “I met and sang with became my friend...and not just a casual friend, but a real true friend.  Now, you've fixed me up with Jules.  I mean, of course I know that he and I may not last, but at least you've given me a chance with him...Freddie, you're amazing.” I told him.  A sudden realization struck me and I laughed an embarrassed laugh.
“What is it?” Freddie asked, smiling a confused why-is-she-laughing smile.
“I just realized how fickle my dreams seem to be...meeting celebrities.  I do have other dreams, less selfish ones, just to clarify.” I said, my face growing pink.
Freddie shook his head, “I never thought those dreams were fact they're quite normal for a young woman to have.  Out of curiosity, what are your other dreams?” he asked me.
“Working for a newspaper...which I do, hehe.” I told him, giving a small giggle.
“Anything else?” he asked, propping his chin up with his hand.
I thought for a moment.  Working for a newspaper had been my dream since high school, and a that is what I had accomplished.  Other than that, my dreams had been mostly superficial.  Then I wondered...did Freddie have any unfulfilled dreams of his own? If so, what were they, and could I help him make them happen?  He'd already done so much for me, it was the least I could do.
I smiled up at him, “Freddie? Are you happy?”
“Why do you ask that, dear?” he asked me.
“I think you are...but I've been told I'm easily fooled.  I just want to make sure I'm right.” I told him.
“Yes, I am happy...I'm happier than I've been in a long time.  Jim is a part of that, and Mary, and music...and you.” he smiled, poking my chin.  Then a sad look came to his eyes.
“What's wrong?” I asked.
“Well...Mary doesn't seem to get on with Jim...” Freddie said, “she just doesn't seem to like him.”
“Why not?” I'd met Mary a few times, and she'd seemed all right to me.
Then again, I wasn't dating her ex.
“I don't know.  I don't know if it's jealousy or what, but I try not to let it get me down.  I love Jim and that's all that matters, right?” he put on his famous grin.
“Right!” I chirped with a sharp nod, “but are there any dreams you have? Like...anything you want that hasn't happened yet?”
Freddie's eyes widened and he hesitated.  Apparently that question had come right out of left field.
“Well...I used to say that I wouldn't be a merely a star...I would be a legend.  Unfortunately, I've heard that cannot be fulfilled until a person is dead,” he remarked, “so now I don't know.”
“That's not true,” I protested, my brow furrowed, “Paul McCartney is a legend, and he's alive...Elton John is a legend, and he's alive...David Bowie is alive and he's a legend too, hell he's the friggin Goblin King! I think you are already a legend,'s just that most people can't see themselves as such.”
Freddie was silent as he considered this.  Then a smile slowly spread across his face and he glanced at me, his liquid brown eyes shining.  He stood up and wrapped his arms around me.
“Thank you, Melvin...that truly made my entire day.” he said softly, hugging me tightly.
I squeezed him, “Then I've fulfilled another one of mine...I've made your day.”
A movement from my peripheral right caused both of us to turn our heads.  Jim and Jules were groggily making their way down stairs, rubbing sleep from their eyes.  Jim made his way to sit beside Freddie and Jules plopped down beside me.  Freddie sat back down and leaned over to give Jim a kiss.
“What's got you two so happy and snuggly this early?” Jules asked, poking my bare arm.
“Just talkin.” I said, smiling with a shrug.
Jules raised an eyebrow, “Much too early for me to be talking about important stuff.” he chuckled.
Jim put his arms around Freddie, “It's never too early for a cuddle.” he lilted.
“I suppose I can't argue with that,” Jules said, leaning over to give me a hug, “watch out for my dragon morning breath, though,” he dryly joked.  I giggled, hugging him back.
Freddie caught my eye and gave me a wink.
I winked back, my heart brimming with happiness.
Here it is! I'm so sorry this took so long! I'm so ashamed! :iconshameplz: (wow, that's a lot of so's)

I hope you like this might be the last happy one before the tearjerkers start coming :tears:.

You can definitely see how rusty I am, so I really hope no one thinks this installment sucks. I don't think it sucks, but I really didn't know where exactly to take this one hehe.

Anyway, enjoy! :D

Thank you! I think, though, that I want to read a bit more about him before the next one.  I want the next one to be Mel and Jules going to see him singing with Montserrat Caballe, but I'm not sure when exactly that was or who all went.

Hmmm... I think I do have a book where they wrote about the whole "Montserrat meeting" and I could take pictures of the pages so that you could read it too... what do you think? Would you be interested? :D
